We prefer the 5th or 6th districts because they are in walking distance of most tourist sights. This web site, France.com, is a great site for finding Paris accomodations. We've used it to book into Paris for years and never had a problem. All the hotels give prices, photos and there are great reviews here online.

I highly recommend it.
