Escaping the airport

Sorry, missed a question. There is no problem getting in and out of the airport, especially CDG. It's way out on the edge of town and served by an excellent network of roads. There are signs and the rental people will give you directions.

Do rent before you go because it costs a lot more if you wait to rent after you arrive. You also may not get the car you want if you wait.

Get the smallest car you can get yourselves and your things into. Parking places in Europe are small, roads in the towns are very narrow and fuel is very expensive. Smaller is better.

Be sure you have covered space for your luggage too. We've never had a problem but there are people (everywhere in the world) who steal things from rental cars. Out of sight, out of mind.
