- Manoir de Cauvicourt- No, this is not where we stayed. This is where the owners live. It is, however, for rent if you need eight bedrooms! We stayed in a converted carriage house across the driveway from the manoir. They have two gites on the property, one a freestanding house and the one in the carriage house. Both are lovely. The property was 12 kilometers south of Caen in lower Normandy so was wonderfully situated to visit all the Normandy beaches, cemeteries and World War II memorials.
