Louis XVI's execution

I understand that Louis XVI's execution actually took some time because the blade of the guillotine stopped HALFWAY DOWN HIS NECK AND THREE PEOPLE HAD TO PUSH IT DOWN.

Is that true?

I know decapitation isn't all it's made out to be, because you are still alive for at least a few minutes afterward (as made evident during the Reign of Terror), but WOW!
