Versailles is a city on western edge of the French capital city Paris, now part of the sprawling metropolis within the Ile de France region. Versailles is best known for being the site of the vast royal palace and gardens built by King Louis XIV within what was previously a royal hunting lodge. It is also one of the most wealthy neighbourhoods near Paris.
Stop Over Paris
Submitted by Winniemary on June 6, 2008 - 9:11pm.Hi, My friend and I are joining a winery tour to Chablis and Burgundy the late August. We are thinking to stop over to Paris for Friday-Sunday before we head up to Chablis.
In the Forum, I found that Normandie and Loire sounds interesting, are they public transportation accessible? Is train convenient?. IS day trip doable?
Also, we know nothing about lodging, such as B&B, hotel. Should we find some here close to train station? Any idea?
