Poitou-Charentes

If you love the unspoiled outdoors and magnificent architecture, you will enjoy a trip through the region of Poitou-Charentes. Located just south of the Loire Valley and extending down as far as the Périgord region, it borders the Atlantic for 280 miles along France's western seaboard. Its eastern frontier abuts the Limoges area. The region takes its name from the ancient province of Poitou and from the Charente River that crosses the areas of Aunis, Saintonge and Angoumois.
